But they bounced back within minutes, taking the lead through two Roberto Firmino goals.Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane also got involved, giving the Reds a comfortable win. And Van Dijk was delighted afterward.”We were almost perfect. We conceded the goal. That was the only thing,” said Van Dijk after the game.”But it was an important win. We have finished 2018 now pretty well, and hopefully we can keep that going.”Confidence is definitely here, but it can change over a couple of games. We won’t get carried away.”We need to keep doing what we have been doing. There will be setbacks, as there always is in life, but it’s how you react and so far we have been doing pretty well.”At the beginning of the season, people were saying they [the front three] didn’t click. They’re fantastic. You see in this game as well and they can be undefendable. It’s scary — and I’m happy to see that.”

Tottenham boss Pochettino calls for unity amid current crisisby Paul Vegas20 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveTottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has called for unity amid their current crisis.Pochettino continues to be linked with other clubs, despite signing a new five-year deal only 17 months ago.Their poor start and the battering by Bayern left some fans insisting he had taken the club as far as he could and many others fearing he would jump ship. But he has issued a rallying cry. He said: “This is a moment to stay all together.“I accept the opinions when you don’t win. NEW ORLEANS – JANUARY 07: The Ohio State Buckeyes make their way out onto the field before the AllState BCS National Championship against the Louisiana State University Tigers on January 7, 2008 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Although Urban Meyer will return from his suspension after this weekend, interim coach Ryan Day and Ohio State have a difficult challenge ahead of them tomorrow.Through the first two games of the season, the Buckeyes have dominated their opposition. Now, they’ll face one of the better teams in the nation in TCU. Following a gutsy win over SMU in sloppy weather conditions, the Horned Frogs will look to make a huge statement.Despite featuring an extremely balanced roster, ESPN’s Football Power Index isn’t very high on TCU’s odds to pull off the upset. In fact, the FPI currently gives Ohio State a 86.7 percent chance to walk out with an undefeated record. Ohio State and TCU will kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday from AT&T Stadium in Dallas – home of the Cowboys.ABC will broadcast the highly-anticipated matchup, as both teams feature game-breaking performers at the quarterback position.Stay tuned.
ANN ARBOR, MI – NOVEMBER 25: Urban Meyer head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Jim Harbaugh head coach of the Michigan Wolverines shake hands after the game. Ohio State won 31 to 20 on November 25, 2017 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)For the first time in a long time, Michigan is coming into Columbus to face Ohio State and is being listed the favorite. The Wolverines are a road favorite against the Buckeyes for the first time since 2004. Michigan is being listed as a 4-point favorite at most sportsbooks. It’s a big one in Columbus, obviously. Both Ohio State and Michigan enter the game at 10-1 with a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game on the line. The Buckeyes and the Wolverines could be playing for a College Football Playoff berth, too.Who’s going to emerge as the victor? One sportsbook’s computer has made its prediction for the contest.OddsShark’s computer has released its score pick. The prediction:Michigan 41.2, Ohio State 31.2Ohio State has yet to lose to Michigan under Urban Meyer, but the Buckeyes are clearly the underdog here.OSU and Michigan are set to kick off at noon E.T. on Saturday. The game will be televised on FOX.
ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum has often been critical of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.Of course, Finebaum seized the opportunity to do it again today. The ESPN college football analyst bashed Harbaugh and the Wolverines’ program following Saturday’s embarrassing loss to Ohio State.“We’re four years in now,” Finebaum said on SportsCenter this morning. “And if you couldn’t beat this Ohio State team with Urban Meyer, … you’re not going to beat them. If you’re a Michigan fan, just accept the fact that we’re going to lose to Ohio State every year as long as Urban Meyer is there. As bad as Urban Meyer has been this year, this has been the worst season we’ve seen in Urban Meyersince his last season at Florida in 2010, all of the pressure. And he can still put a game plan together to make Jim Harbaugh look like an idiot yesterday, then he might as well throw in the towel.”Harbaugh will remain Michigan’s head coach, of course, but Finebaum thinks the program has serious questions to answer moving forward.“The decision to be made for the University of Michigan is where you want to be,” Finebaum said. “Do we want to have a big-time coach that makes $7 million a year for and lose every year to our biggest rival? That’s the choice. They have a good program. They could go 10-2, 11-2 and most programs would be happy. But Michigan is not happy losing to Ohio State. I think some there, probably Jim Harbaugh more than anyone else, better look in the mirror and quit taking responsibility and decide, am I the right person to lead this program? Because if you can’t beat your rival, you have no future at a school like Michigan.”Harbaugh fell to 0-4 against Ohio State with Saturday’s loss. He became the first head coach in Michigan history to have an 0-4 record against the Buckeyes.Urban Meyer, meanwhile, is now 7-0 against Michigan.
CHARLOTTE, NC – DECEMBER 01: Dexter Lawrence #90 of the Clemson Tigers reacts against the Pittsburgh Panthers in the first quarter during their game at Bank of America Stadium on December 1, 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images)With the College Football Playoff almost here, the Clemson Tigers are waiting for the second test results involving the three players that were suspended a week ago. Out of those players that are currently in jeopardy of missing the Cotton Bowl, the biggest name is Dexter Lawrence, who is an All-ACC defensive tackle. It turns out that drug tests found traces of ostarine in Lawrence’s system, which would make him ineligible of playing on Saturday. However, the star defender will take a B sample in hope that it clears him from all this trouble.Lawrence has made it known that he’s not sure of how the substance appeared in his system. From The Greenville News: “I know that I have no control on what the B sample result will be. I’m just here to support my teammates and try to be a leader,” Lawrence said. “I’m not the type of guy to do a selfish act like that. I have too much pride. I love this team and my family too much to even think about putting substance like that in my body. I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know how it got there. His ability to halt any rushing attack but also generate pressure from the inside of the defensive line is quite impressive. If Clemson doesn’t have him in its semifinal matchup it would be a significant loss.Notre Dame and Clemson will kick off at 4:00 p.m. E.T. from AT&T Stadium. The clock is ticking for Lawrence’s eligibility, and the final results could become public later today. It’s safe to say that fans and players everywhere will be monitoring his status.

On Friday afternoon, Smart took to Twitter to share a video of former co-offensive coordinator James Coley during practice. It was a teaser video from Smart that confirmed the hire of Coley as the team’s new offensive coordinator.Smart released a statement on the hire: “James has been a critical part of our staff since we came to Georgia. He’s done an incredible job in all aspects of his responsibilities including coaching the wide receivers for two years, serving as co-offensive coordinator this past season coaching the quarterbacks, and recruiting.”Kirby Smart statement on James Coley being promoted to offensive coordinator: pic.twitter.com/pbZvgNbImp— Seth Emerson (@SethWEmerson) January 11, 2019Coley spent two seasons as Georgia’s wide receivers coach before being named the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2018 season. It’s a big move for Smart as the Bulldogs look to compete in the SEC.

Oklahoma’s Austin Kendall is one of the players on the ride.Kendall has entered his name in the transfer portal, and is looking to transfer somewhere as a graduate transfer. That means he would be eligible immediately.Kendall has two seasons of eligibility remaining, so he’s an even more valuable commodity to a potential suitor. One of the schools that he’s been linked to is Auburn.According to Kendall’s Instagram story, he appears to be on a visit to Auburn now.Transferring Oklahoma quarterback Austin Kendall appears to be in Auburn, per his Instagram story.https://t.co/BS5k6BN1Ne pic.twitter.com/ecQ869aXEp— Justin Lee (@ByJustinLee) January 14, 2019Auburn is losing starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham to the NFL, and the Tigers missed out on Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant. There’s a clear opening for Kendall there. However, if Oklahoma doesn’t land Alabama graduate transfer Jalen Hurts, Kendall could still have a shot at starting in Norman. In that case, perhaps he’ll elect to stay put and compete with prized incoming freshman Spencer Rattler.Kendall has thrown for 265 yards and three touchdowns in his OU career.
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – JANUARY 01: The Georgia Bulldogs mascot UGA looks on during the during the Allstate Sugar Bowl against the Texas Longhorns at Mercedes-Benz Superdome on January 01, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)While there have been several reports of arrests and other incidents involving several Georgia players, little information on potential on-field punishments have been addressed. But a look at the school’s policies seem to suggest that at least two students could miss playing time over their run-ins with the law.According to DawgNation, Georgia linebackers Robert Beal and Brenton Cox could be facing one-game suspensions or worse stemming from their recent arrests. Per the report, Beal and Cox were arrested for marijuana possession.Georgia student-athletes are prohibited from possessing marijuana, and the school outlines several punishments for a first offense. In addition to the standard counseling, probation and drug-testing, athletes apparently are liable to receive a suspension “for no less than 10 percent of the total sport season.”Such a punishment if dealt by the school would mean that Beal and Cox would miss at least 1-2 games in the 2019 season. These two players were arrested earlier in the week. And it now appears that they will miss the season opener against Vanderbilt: https://t.co/RMqZH5TFit— DawgNation (@DawgNation) April 4, 2019That would include the season opener against Vanderbilt, and possibly the home opener against Murray State.Beal and Cox could also be facing disciplinary action from the school, and of course, from the NCAA.The two are fortunate that less than one ounce of marijuana was reportedly found in their possession. Having more than an ounce is a felony in Georgia punishable by up to 1-10 years in prison.[DawgNation]
The Ohio State University has filed a trademark application on the word “THE.”The filing, made on August 8th, indicates #OhioState is offering a brand of “THE” clothing. Not sure how ‘The U’ will feel about this one.My analysis 👇:#BuckeyeNation #MiamiHurricanes pic.twitter.com/1UvLOAOnIc— Josh Gerben (@JoshGerben) August 13, 2019You can see in the clip above the word “THE” is the only thing appearing on the front of this merchandise. That’s why Gerben says the claim is a bit flimsy.Have to admit, it is an interesting move by Ohio State, even if it seems unlikely to work. The shirts look pretty cool but the school might have to rethink this campaign a little. COLUMBUS, OH – APRIL 18: A general view of Ohio Stadium as more than 99,000 fans packed in to watch the annual Ohio State Spring Game on April 18, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)You have probably heard Ohio State players, coaches, fans and alums refer to the school as ‘THE’ Ohio State University. Now, the university is trying to get a trademark based off that phrasing.Trademark attorney Josh Gerben uncovered a trademark application for the word “the” by OSU, filed on August 8. The school is planning on using the word on the front of shirts, hats and other merchandise. However, Gerben thinks this claim “has issues from the start.”“In order for a trademark to be registered for a brand of clothing, the trademark must be used in a trademark fashion,” he said. “In other words, it has to be used on tagging or labeling for the products. In this case, just putting the word ‘the’ on the front of a shirt is not sufficient trademark use.”
NEW ORLEANS – JANUARY 01: Head coach Urban Meyer (center) of the Florida Gators and his wife Shelley Mather Meyer (R) celebrate with quarterback Tim Tebow #15 after defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats 24-51 during the Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Louisana Superdome on January 1, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)On Tuesday afternoon, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer revealed which of his quarterbacks he liked to coach most during his career. It’s no surprise Meyer went with one of the best quarterbacks in college football history.During a luncheon panel this afternoon, the former Florida Gators star said Tim Tebow is his favorite quarterback.Tebow played a role on the Gators’ national title-winning team in 2006 before becoming “the guy” for his final three seasons at Florida. During that time, he brought home another national title and a Heisman Trophy.Coach Urban Meyer said his favorite QB to coach was @timtebow!Reply with your favorite player under Coach Meyer: pic.twitter.com/0WL30Rj9cy— Fiesta Bowl (@Fiesta_Bowl) August 20, 2019Meyer coached a few notable quarterbacks during his career. Former Utah quarterback Alex Smith might not have been the No. 1 overall pick in 2005 without Meyer’s tutelage. After coaching Florida for six years, Meyer resigned from his post. He spent a year away from the game before landing at Ohio State.Meyer went on to coach J.T. Barrett, Braxton Miller, Cardale Jones and Dwayne Haskins – among others. In the end, though, the head coach select his former Gators star as his favorite to coach.Tebow is one of the most well-liked athletes in the country, so it comes as no surprise. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if Meyer comes back to college football.
The Gators will be starting backup Kyle Trask in this one, as starter Feleipe Franks is out for the season with a brutal injury. Trask played well in the win at Kentucky, leading Florida back for a come-from-behind win.Tennessee has been highly disappointing this season, but the Vols should get up for this one, and Florida really hasn’t looked like a top 10 team all year.No. 15 UCF at PittsburghBetting line: UCF -12.5The Knights might be one of the country’s most-underrated teams right now. That’s what Kirk Herbstreit thinks, anyway.“I’m surprised — what are they, 17? They should be [ranked] in that 9, 10 range, personally. I think that because we’ve now seen this brand and they’ve been able to beat some high-profile teams and they’ve been able to compete with some high-profile teams in bowl games. That’s how you build it. That’s how Boise State built it,” he said. “And now when you beat a Stanford, and the way they beat them, they need to be taken more seriously. They need to get more respect. And I think this team in 2019 is the beneficiary of what they’ve done in ’17 and ’18 and now people need to start to kind of say, ‘Uh oh.’”We don’t really disagree with any of that, though road games are tough and Pittsburgh, despite being 1-2, looked strong against Penn State last week.Perhaps UCF is due for a letdown following the big win over Stanford.No. 16 Oregon at StanfordBetting line: Oregon -10.0The Ducks have played well since their Week 1 loss against Auburn. Oregon could be on the way toward a Pac-12 championship if the strong play continues.Stanford, meanwhile, is coming off a tough loss against UCF. The Cardinal have traditionally given the Ducks problems, though, and David Shaw certainly knows what it takes to pull off an upset.***What upsets are you picking in Week 4? India Today Web Desk New DelhiFebruary 17, 2019UPDATED: February 17, 2019 14:16 IST Kuldeep Yadav has taken 77 wickets in 39 ODIs for India since his debut in 2017. (Reuters Photo)HIGHLIGHTSKuldeep Yadav picked 45 wickets in 19 ODIs in the year 2018Kuldeep is one of the certainties for India in the 2019 ICC World Cup squadKuldeep said he does not believe in mystery and prefers to just stick to basicsKuldeep Yadav does not hate it when batsmen smack him for a six, in fact it makes the wrist spinner happy. Kuldeep picked up 45 wickets in 19 ODIs last year at a brilliant average of 17.78 and a strike rate of 22.98. He was also the highest wicket-taker in ODI series in South Africa, England and the Asia Cup. Early this year, Kuldeep also picked a five-wicket haul in his first Test match in Australia.Such has been Kuldeep’s effect in the Indian team that he is one of the premier spinning choices for the team management and along with Yuzvendra Chahal, he has managed to displace Ravichandran Ashwin from the ODI and T20I setup.Kuldeep is generally called the mystery-spinner due to his wrist spin but he does not believe in the term and prefers to stick to his basics instead. He revealed his one-stop plan for batsmen.”There is a saying ‘Kitna bhi paata wicket kyu na ho jitna aap hawa mein daloge batsman utna fasega’ [No matter how flat the wicket is, the more you toss the ball up, the more the batsman will get trapped].” If you bowl quicker on a flat pitch then it becomes easier for the batsman to hit. So I always remember these things and kept giving the loop.”Containing the batsman is not my motto. If the batsman hits a six it makes me happy because it always gives me a chance to pick up a wicket. Turning the ball and deceiving the batsman in the air is my strength and I stick to that,” Kuldeep told Indian Express.advertisementKuldeep further talked about his series in New Zealand where wind plays an important role. Kuldeep spoke about how he tried to counter the wind and focussed on adjustment accordingly.”In all the matches that I played, the breeze played a huge part. It’s difficult to deliver against the wind as the ball sometimes goes a bit fast or a bit slow- so control is paramount. But I tried using it to good effect and bring the drift into play and thereby deceive batsman.”Using angles is another aspect I focused on. However, if the wind is blowing from the opposite direction then again, you have to adjust,” Kuldeep further said. Kuldeep is currently the second best-ranked bowler in the latest ICC T20I rankings, behind only Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. He reached his career-best spot after two wickets in the final T20I vs New Zealand.”It’s good to be among the top three in world cricket. When you are at number two in world cricket you know that you are on the right track and it provides greater motivation and helps to strive harder. Till now number 2 is good. Rashid Khan has done well and deserves the numero uno spot. It won’t be easy to dislodge him. But if I keep performing then number one will also come soon.”KULDEEP ON 2019 ICC WORLD CUP IN ENGLAND AND WALESKuldeep Yadav is going to play a major role for India in the upcoming World Cup and he said he was “still living a dream”. Kuldeep said he wanted to make meaningful contributions for India and win the World Cup for the country.”World Cup pressure will be there and that should be there for all players. It helps to perform. Conditions won’t really matter in ODI. I am not thinking too much on it now. There is still time and neither do I believe in bringing something new. If you are talking about mystery then that is something that I do not believe in.”To be very honest I am still living a dream. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I will be a part of the World Cup squad. If India wins the World Cup then it will be the biggest moment in my career. I do not know how I will celebrate. The entire country wants it and if I can win it for the country then I will know that I have made a meaningful contribution to my country. This is my dream.”KULDEEP IN AWE OF MS DHONI Kuldeep Yadav has had two major on-field partnerships in his limited overs career so far. One is with his fellow wrist spinner Chahal and another with MS Dhoni, who is constantly heard giving instructions to the youngster.Kuldeep said he find Dhoni’s speed behind the stumps some he had never seen before.”Mahi bhai has vast experience and keeps telling us the nitty-gritty of the game. He is like a game changer and we are lucky to have him in our team.advertisement”But what I find most extraordinary about him is the speed in which he dislodges the stumps. It is simply unbelievable and honestly, I have never played with someone with such quick glovework.”Also Read | Ravi Shastri is right, Kuldeep and not Ashwin India’s No.1 away spinner: Harbhajan SinghFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
